ABOUT THE INVENTOR (NOT NECESSARILY OF
PERPETUAL MOTION)

Nathan Coppedge is 24, and lives in New Haven, CT where
he is trying to foster his own independence.

His physics education consisted of four years of informal
math classes as part of the Interactive Math Program (IMP)
during high school, which included calculations for ferris wheels
and other physics-related behaviors, doubtless an inspiration for
rotating devices.

He and the other students would receive weekly "POW"s or
problems of the week, which were involved word problems. He
became known for providing lengthy, detailed explanations of
his solutions, some of which one teacher (who was making
retirement plans) claimed he hadn't seen before, as long as he'd
been teaching the program.

Nathan thought of his first invention at about 9 years old--a
popcorn gun. His passion for inventing lapsed during adolescence,
with the exception of some game design and an interest in traps
for Dungeons & Dragons games.

However, the passion was recently rekindled as he did some
soul-searching and found that he had continued doubts about
whether his education was not already complete.

Aside from inventing, Nathan has other interests which he would
call something more than hobbies: philosophy, poetry, and the
visual arts. Inventing is by no means his sine qua non. He takes
all his interests seriously, but of course he takes his humor
seriously too.
