A mock-up of the sideways leverage device, a failed principle
I did some testing with the fixed and
mobile track concept from Design 8;
certainly fluid movements are
possible; the question is if the weight
differential is significant enough for
continuous motion
The central
"tongue" pictured
here is supposed to
be a fixed element;
I had to hold it with
my hand
In the same experiment
design I found that
sometimes with
approximately balanced
conditions, the tongue
element was more effective
for movement than having
the tongue removed.

Somewhat promising,
considering the design is
meant to function with a
heavier than average ball
weight, not a very small
marble; I have found a
pattern that larger
structures are more
predictable, and better off
when there is an advantage

LEFT: In this experiment, conducted
using similar construction to cardboard
unit above, and also using a marble as a
ball-weight, I successfully demonstrated
that
a marble can return to a greater
altitude while retaining downwards
momentum at start of process
; So far
however, it appears that the operated
lever must return to a greater altitude,
However, there is a possible operable
version of this in Repeat Lever Type 12
